Certs Mints

Certs Mints

Certs are a brand of sweets whose defining feature is the hole in the middle. The peppermint flavored polo was first manufactured in the United Kingdom in 1948 by employee John Barge well at the Rowntree's Factory, York, a range of flavors followed. The name ‘Certs’ is reportedly from the word ‘Polar’ and is to symbolize the cool and fresh feeling one gets from sucking a Certs. Cert is a breath mint (or, according to some, a candy mint) manufactured by Cad bury Adams, formerly the American Chicle Company.Long one of America’s most popular mints, Certs was the first breath mint to be nationally marketed in the United States, and has been a fixture at American drug stores and convenience stores since its debut on the market in 1956.Though classified as mints, Certs actually contain no oils of any mint plant. Instead, as has long been advertised, the mints contain "Retsyn," a trademarked name for a mixture of copper gluconate, hydrogenated cottonseed oil, and flavoring. It is the copper gluconate in Retsyn which gives Certs its signature green flecks.

A mint is a candy (sweet in British English) characterized by the presence of mint flavoring or real mint oil, whether it be peppermint oil, spearmint oil, or another natural or artificial source; the sweets are often referred to as "peppermints". It is possible to obtain this sweets in a sugar-free version. Wintergreen and other oils or flavors are also frequently used in mints; however, these are not of the mint (Mentha) family or botanical group.A "scotch mint" or "Pan Drop" is a white round candy with a hard shell but a fairly soft chewy center, popular in Britain and other Commonwealth nations. The scotch mint and other candies were spheroid, more recently moving toward a larger, discoid shape. (The Van Melle company markets such scotch mints as Mentos candies.) The name "scotch mint" comes from the specific mint plant Mentha × gracilis.

Isabella I (Spanish: Isabel I, Old Spanish: Ysabel I; Madrigal de las Altas Torres, 22 April 1451 – Medina del Campo, 26 November 1504), nicknamed the Catholic, was Queen of Castile and León. She and her husband, Ferdinand II of Aragon, brought stability to the kingdoms that became the basis for the unification of Spain. Later the two laid the foundations for the political unification of Spain under their grandson, Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor. After a struggle to claim her right to the throne, she reorganized the governmental system, brought the crime rate to the lowest it had been in years, and pulled the kingdom out of the enormous debt her brother had left behind. Her reforms and those she made with her husband had an influence that extended well beyond the borders of their united kingdoms. Isabella and Ferdinand are known for completing the Reconquista, ordering conversion or exile of their Muslim and Jewish subjects and financing Christopher Columbus' 1492 voyage that led to the opening of the "New World

Mint Chocolate Chip is an ice cream flavor composed of mint ice cream and small chocolate chips. In some cases the liqueur crème de menthe is used to provide the mint flavor, but in most cases peppermint or spearmint flavoring is used. Food coloring is usually added to make it green, but it may be white in "all natural" or "organic" varieties.According to the International Dairy Foods Association, mint chocolate chip is the 10th most popular flavor of ice cream, and comprised 3% of all ice cream sold in 2000.The popularity of the flavor has led to its use in other foods (such as cookies and meringues) as well a number of products such as cosmetics, air fresheners, and even personal lubricants. Ice cream manufacturer Baskin-Robbins has created a hard candy named "Mint Chocolate Chip" that tastes similar to their ice cream of the same name (which is one of their "permanent flavors").Some brands name it Chocolate (or Choco) Chip Mint, Chocolate (or Choco) Mint Chip, Mint 'n Chip, or just Mint Chip. It is also known as Peppermint Bon Bon.mostly in Minnesota and Wisconsin.Timothy McVeigh consumed two pints of Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream as his last meal before being executed in 2001.
